Activation History

The Warrensburg Area Amateur Radio Club (WAARC), based in Missouri, hosted a dedicated special event station on December 10, 2005, operating under their registered club call sign W0AU. Note that K0NXA is not the primary club station call sign; it is rather a prominent individual trustee call sign or regional identifier closely linked to their community presence and repeater coordination. For this 15th anniversary event, the club used their official, permanent club call sign W0AU. Whenever WAARC operates as a collective entity—such as during their weekly training nets or annual ARRL Field Day events—they transmit using W0AU.

The primary purpose of this activation was twofold: celebrating the official formal re-establishment of the club framework and marking its 15th anniversary milestone since its initial incorporation. For on-air exchanges, the participating operators who made contact exchanged their callsign, signal reports, and QTH (location), and congratulations regarding the club's 15th-year operations. A specialized, custom commemorative QSL card was designed specifically for this anniversary event to acknowledge radio contact confirmations sent to the club’s official mailing address.

Club Heritage & Foundation

While amateur radio enthusiasts had gathered informally in Johnson County, Missouri for decades, the club officially filed its Articles of Incorporation in 1990. The 2005 event was highly symbolic for the members. It honored a period of revived membership interest, updated repeater infrastructure, and a renewed commitment to local emergency communications alongside organizations like the Henry County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES). Today, the Warrensburg Area Amateur Radio Club maintains its strong community presence, participating in annual events like the ARRL Field Day and seasonal community parades.
