I thoroughly enjoy firing up the radio, jumping onto the active OMISS HF nets, making new contacts, and chasing various operating awards. OMISS runs regular high-frequency nets on most of the amateur ham bands, fostering incredible nationwide camaraderie. Contacts are confirmed either electronically via standard logging platforms like QRZ, LoTW, and eQSL, or through traditional physical QSL cards. For operators who prefer physical cards, OMISS runs an efficient QSL bureau to drastically cut down on mailing costs for participants, though members are always welcome to route cards directly if they choose.
1. Call District Award
Award Rules: Requires members to successfully contact at least one active OMISS member in each of the 10 contiguous United States call districts (0 through 9). All qualifying contacts must be made after January 1, 2006 during official OMISS nets. Physical QSL cards are not required; a formal log extract detailing the contacts is submitted for verification.

2. Millionaire's Club Award

3. State Flag Awards
Award Rules: Contacts must be made with at least 5 different amateur radio stations within a specific state to qualify for that state's individual flag certificate. Qualifying contacts can be made anytime starting after January 1, 2005 during official OMISS Nets, including both OMISS members and non-members. No physical QSL cards are required; operators submit log extracts sorted by state detailing date, frequency, call sign, and OMISS numbers. Reaching the 48-state mark unlocks the primary OMISS State Flag Plaque.

4. WPX (Worked All Prefixes) Award
Award Rules: To earn the OMISS WPX certificate, an operator must successfully contact 100 distinct OMISS members holding different call sign prefixes. All contacts must be made after the inception of OMISS on June 28, 1981 with active members during official OMISS nets. Your station log must accurately record the OMISS number, station call sign, date, time, and operating frequency.
