But Marconi wasn't just an inventor; he was a fierce entrepreneur who founded the Marconi Company, installing his wireless equipment onto ships globally. Early radio communication was vital for ships at sea, revolutionizing maritime safety and allowing vessels to call for help, which famously assisted in saving over 1,700 lives during maritime disasters in the early 20th century. Over the decades, the Marconi Company evolved and continued pushing the boundaries of wireless technology, eventually pioneering shortwave communications and early radar systems.
