Station Role
The Galaxy DX-959G brings high-performance, full-featured 11-meter capability to the W8USR operating deck. Operating as a baseline asset, it gives control operators access to local, highway, and emergency monitor channels across the standard 40-channel spectrum. The radio is integrated into the console desk framework, drawing its energy directly from a dedicated, low-ripple linear bench power supply to maintain maximum signal purity during voice operations.
History with Radio W8USR
The Galaxy DX-959G mobile transceiver was added to the station inventory to provide a high-end, dedicated AM/SSB platform for monitoring the 11-meter bands. To ensure a stable and noise-free footprint on the desk, the radio was paired with a Pyramid PS-15K5 low-ripple linear bench supply brought out from the station storage locker. Since its installation, the DX-959G has been a highly reliable tool for checking local band conditions and testing multi-mode antenna configurations from the console desk.
